Athey and Pittakos were inspired by the inclusion of a short Pasiphäe video they made for their multimedia performance Acephalous Monster. Wanting to expand on the idea in a short film that could stand alone, but also start thinking about how it could fit in a new work, The Asclepeion.

To be able to film this in the lecture hall of the Philosophical Research Society was a dream.  And to expand on the concept of possession, compulsion, abjection, realization.. this is archetype work. It also fits in the category Paul Preciado coined (via Annie Sprinkle), Post-Porn.

Hermes interpretation of the enchanted womb of a cow, this myth is truly the earliest reference of a glory hole being used to deceive and coerce, in this case, the seed of Poseidan’s bull. Wherein in a future story, Pasiphäe gives birth to the Minotaur.

Much appreciation to everyone involved in this project during a stressful lockdown time of covid19, filmed just before the vaccinations became available. And to everyone who supported to fundraisers, Ponylee Etrange for choosing this project as a Dirty Looks/On Location choice, even if that event was cancelled twice!

To date two screenings have taken place,  the first at Communitism in Athens, Greece, in November 2021, and at Ex Teresa in Mexico City on December 16, 2021.

Produced by Ron Athey for a Dirty Looks Commission, realized with funds from a Scott Ewalt-designed solar anus t-shirt campaign and a Harpo Foundation grant.
